Sydney, Australia – (The Hosting News) – March 10, 2009 – Macquarie Hosting has reported that it has doubled its sales and operations staff, as the company’s Business Hosting division continues to grow. New staff appointments are bringing over ten decades of experience to spearhead project management, business development and network engineering.

Aidan Tudehope, Managing Director, Hosting, Macquarie Telecom remarked, ”Each of these appointments aligns directly with Macquarie Telecom’s business growth strategy. They come at an opportune time as we see increased demand from business and Government for managed services, managed security and solutions that help them reduce operating costs and streamline processes in the current economic climate.”
Macquarie Hosting, a division of Macquarie Telecom has strengthened its sales and operations team with twenty new appointments in the past three months to support grown in Business Hosting. Appointments cover the areas of business development, project management, senior engineering support and network operations management. All positions will be based in Macquarie Telecom’s Sydney offices
The rapid expansion builds on existing growth of the business hosting and data centre business, which contributed $81.2 million in revenue to Macquarie Telecom in the last financial year (ended June 2008) and now accounts for more than one third of overall revenue for the business.

Established in 1992, Macquarie Telecom works exclusively with the business and government markets. We provide a range of voice, data, mobile, mobile data and hosting solutions to over a million users in more than 3000 companies.
The expanded team brings to Macquarie Hosting more than ten decades of experience in the industry from organisations including WebCentral, Optus, Telstra and AT&T. The team will be responsible for strengthening the company’s leadership in the critical application hosting market and will focus on hosting of new applications and web services.
Through a new partnership with the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), Macquarie Hosting is drawing some appointees from the University’s Bachelor of IT course. This is the first time Macquarie Hosting has partnered with a local university to recruit IT specialists directly into the business. The University students will be trained as part of the company’s network operations centre team.
“Over the next twelve to eighteen months we expect to see another steep increase in the number of organisations either selectively outsourcing or moving their critical applications online. In 2008 we saw an increase greater than 30% of Australian businesses looking to outsource some aspects of their IT infrastructure and we expect 2009 to build on this.
Mr. Tudehope added, ”It continues to surprise me, particularly in the current uncertain economic climate, that organisations fail to estimate the true costs of managing their IT infrastructure in-house when assessing their IT management strategies.”
The most senior appointment to the new Macquarie Hosting team, Gerard Barwell, Sales Manager, Hosting will be responsible for running Macquarie Telecom’s second business sales team.

Established in 1992, Macquarie Telecom works exclusively with the business and government markets, providing a range of voice, data, mobile, mobile data and hosting solutions to over a million users in more than 3000 companies.
